Patented Biomarkers in Other Diseases
Source MDx engages in prospective biomarker clinical trials in collaboration with leading pharmaceutical and academic/medical centers in a number of defined areas of interest. Precision Profiles™ specific to other inflammatory diseases have been developed based upon the same rigorous review of the literature, microarray analysis, relevant in-house studies and collaborator input yielding informative target gene panels that reflect disease specific and inflammation related RNA transcript measures. While interest in a disease and a defined clinical population typically drive the development of Precision Profiles™, Source MDx also develops Precision Profiles™ in disease areas of opportunity, such as diabetes, where the targeted clinical population may be defined in the future.
Clinical Studies in Other Diseases
Source MDx continues to be involved in a broad range of clinical studies in other diseases including completed studies in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), transplant rejection and ocular diseases, ongoing studies in chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (COPD) and chronic pain as well as potential future studies in diabetes and other opportunities of interest to us and/or our clients. As an example, Source MDx has completed prospective biomarker clinical studies in multiple ocular diseases with a leading ophthalmology company. In this set of experimental studies, Precision Profiles™ in Ocular Disease have been developed for multiple disease types including normal pressure glaucoma (NPG), high pressure primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG), pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX), dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and wet AMD. These studies have resulted in a patent filing for the identification of biomarkers associated with ocular disease, including the monitoring and treatment of ocular disease and conditions induced by or related to ocular disease. |
